  • Refraction (checking of power)

  • Binocular vision assessment (detecting lazy eyes, squint eyes etc)

  • Colour vision assessment

  • Anterior eye health assessment (checking of the health of corneas, eyelids, eye lashes etc)

A complete pediatric eye examination would include:

  • Abovementioned

  • Eye pressure

  • Posterior ocular health (checking of the retina, optic nerve etc)

Digital eye strains, headaches, cataracts etc can be detected with an optometrist eye check.

A full eye examination for adults would include:

  • Refraction (checking of power such as long-, short-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia)

  • Binocular vision assessment (detecting digital eye strains, lazy eyes, squint eyes etc)

  • Colour vision assessment

  • Anterior eye health assessment (checking of the health of corneas, eyelids, eye lashes etc, this is especially required for contact lens wearers)

  • Eye pressure (to determine if it is too high, or too low)
